I got myself something fun this weekend.
![Of course, now I don't know if I should invest in that $35 loupe that's gotten such good reviews on Amazon. My new 30x loupe.](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7296/13932898837_2972b8d346_c.jpg) |
My new loupe – it was actually the display model, which is why the case is scuffed. Still works great! |
It's a 30x loupe, which I got for $10 at the
Bone Room, a morbid curiosity shop in Berkeley. I decided to use it tonight to take some low-budget macro shots. The results were mixed, but sort of fun. I also got a 65x mini handheld microscope thing as well, but there's no way I'll be able to use that with my phone camera. I think I first saw someone use a loupe this way on Terra Forums, but I can't remember who it was, alas.
![Since I'm planning on entering this sundew in the BACPS show, I'll probably stop feeding it and put it right up under the lights for a few weeks before the show. Drosera burmannii close up.](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7425/13932953518_9d77a92bf5_c.jpg) |
Drosera burmannii leaf, which has gotten less intensely red following re-potting. |
![I absolutely love pygmies, they are so funny looking and cute. Drosera pygmaea close up.](https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2901/13932899837_000d943d89_c.jpg) |
Drosera pygmaea, one of my NASC acquisitions. |
![My U. sandersonii has actually sent up a scape too, which is fun! Utricularia livida scape close up.](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7438/13932948780_4152fdd21f_c.jpg) |
Utricularia livida scape. This will probably be more interesting in a couple weeks when the flowers are open. |
![The pictures of this pot always look over-saturated, but that's pretty much how the colors are in real life. Pretty! Sphagnum moss and Drosera brevifolia close up.](https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2896/13932900417_c6e026ba4a_c.jpg) |
Sphagnum moss with Drosera brevifolia. I like the contrasting colors. |
The pictures are pretty fun at least
